Lethrinus olivaceus is found in sandy coastal areas, lagoons and reef slopes often in large schools. The big snapper is considered very active and swims quickly over large instances that we can not offer in the home aquarium. The animals were detected from just below the water surface to 185 meters depth.
For large specimens, the Ciguatera fish poisoning has been detected often. Fish, crustaceans and cephalopods are on the menu of the big snappers.
